Founded in January 2024 by three former professional athletes with over 30 years of combined coaching experience in the independent sector, our company is committed to providing excellence in all aspects of sporting essentials.
Charlie Sherringham
With an extensive background in football spanning both professional play and educational leadership, I bring over 17 years of firsthand experience to the realm of sports equipment provision. Transitioning seamlessly from a successful professional football career to a role as Head of Football at an Independent School, I have had the privilege of operating within diverse football environments, ranging from Premier League Academies to grassroots initiatives.
Throughout my journey, I have witnessed firsthand the pivotal role that appropriate equipment plays in facilitating the smooth operation of football programs and nurturing the development of players and children. It is this insight that fuels my belief in the value that Sporting Essentials’ high-quality products and expertise can bring to the schools and sports clubs we collaborate with.
By leveraging our top-tier products and wealth of experience, we aim to empower these institutions to achieve their objectives and in still a genuine passion for the sport among their participants. Our commitment is to serve as a trusted partner in their pursuit of excellence, ensuring that they have access to the tools necessary to thrive and make a lasting impact in the world of football.

Drawing from my extensive background in cricket, working in environments that range from elite to entry engagements, and my current leadership role as Head of Cricket, I have encountered firsthand the repercussions of subpar equipment decisions made by schools,clubs, and parents. My mission is clear: to ensure that children, coaches, and teachers are equipped with the most suitable gear to foster the development of the next generation of cricketers.
Having overseen numerous programs and witnessed students grappling with ill-fitting or inferior-quality equipment due to uninformed purchases, I am steadfast in my belief that the right equipment is paramount, particularly in a sport as gear-dependent as cricket. The impact of using the wrong-sized or improperly weighted bat, for instance, can significantly hinder a player’s performance potential.
It is with this conviction that I am confident in the transformative potential of Sporting Essentials. Our commitment lies in offering premium-grade equipment at accessible prices, tailored to individual budgets and requirements. From representing Scotland universities at the rugby league World Cup to my ongoing involvement with Wanstead Rugby Club and participation in elite seven tournaments, I have experienced firsthand how optimal gear can elevate one’s performance on the field.
